Bio-Oil Review

September 27, 2015 0 Comments
When I was still pregnant (the year 2011) and on my 3rd trimester, I started to have stretch marks and dark marks on my belly. I don't know why or what caused it and I am not so happy about it. A few months after giving birth to my baby girl, my sister gave me this product, Bio-Oil, and said that I should try this on my stretch marks

I wasn't regularly using Bio-Oil because I got busy being a newbie mom, but whenever I get the chance,  I would diligently put some on the areas where I have a lot of stretch marks; in my belly. Anyways, months and years had passed and I forgot about using this product. But what I noticed is that my skin had lighten and my stretch marks aren't that visible in some areas of my body. I didn't use anything except  Bio-Oil. Now, I believe this brand is really effective and so I started using it again.

Aside from using Bio-oil on my stretch marks, I also use it in my face. Yes, I even use Bio-Oil before applying make-up, its a very good moisturizer and won't leave an oily residue on my face and doesn't clog my pores.

I didn't notice it for a long time but my acne scars had lightened over the years and I believe it's because of Bio-Oil since it is the only product that I've been religiously using for years.

Bio-Oil contains numerous ingredients that help the skin, become softer and smoother thereby improving the appearance of aging and wrinkled skin. With regular application, Bio-Oil helps to improve the appearance of uneven skin tone. It also prevents the formation and improves the appearance of existing stretch marks formed during pregnancy, teenage growth spurts, or periods of rapid weight gain.

Here are the Key Ingredients in Bio-Oil:

Vitamin A: Promotes the formation of new collagen and assists in skin renewal, helping to increase elasticity and improve skin’s texture and tone.

Vitamin E: Helps maintain healthy-looking skin, protecting it from the effects of free radicals which cause skin damage and premature aging. Vitamin E is also a fantastic moisturizer.

PurCellin Oil: Improves smoothness and ease of application, making Bio-Oil readily absorbed by the skin. It also acts as an emollient, leaving the skin soft, smooth, and supple.

What I liked about this product is that it absorbs quickly into my skin and it doesn't feel greasy after using it. And it smelled good too, maybe it's because of the plant extracts like the lavender oil, rosemary oil, chamomile oil and calendula oil that has been added into this product. By the way, it's hypoallergenic and ideal for all skin types, even those with sensitive skin. So far, I haven't had any problems using this product. ;)

You can buy Bio-Oil at Amazon or if you're in the Philippines, you can buy it any Watsons stores nationwide and at Lazada, click here: https://invol.co/cl141lz. :)

Causes, Treatment and Prevention of Diaper Rash

September 09, 2015 0 Comments
What is a diaper rash? A Diaper rash (diaper dermatitis) is skin irritation, usually a reddish color on a baby's genital area or bottom. Diaper rash is one of the most common dermatological conditions and most common skin disorders of babies.

Our babies have delicate skin, so some babies can get a diaper rash because of skin sensitivity. That's why even if their parents frequently change the diapers they can still have them for other reasons.

Causes, Treatment and Prevention of Diaper Rash

What Causes a Diaper Rash?

There are a lot of things that can cause a diaper rash and here are some of the reasons why:
  • Irritation from using a new product
  • Irritation from stool and urine
  • Allergic reactions to diaper
  • Introduction of new foods
  • Bacterial or yeast (fungal) infection
  • Chafing or rubbing

What should we do to Prevent and Treat Diaper Rash?

Change your baby's diaper frequently and as soon as it's wet or dirty. Don't forget to wash your hands before every diaper change. Clean your baby's bottom with water (warm would be good too), you may use mild and fragrance-free soaps then gently pat the skin dry with a clean towel afterward.

Some baby wipes might irritate your baby's skin, try avoiding wipes with alcohol or fragrance.

Don't over-tighten their diapers to minimize skin irritations. If their current diaper is causing them skin irritations, switch to other brands or you can also try using cloth diapers. Babies who are using cloth diapers tend to get fewer rashes.

When your baby has a diaper rash, wash and clean the affected areas with mild soap or cleanser and then make sure that the skin is dry before applying any creams or ointments. After treating your baby's diaper rashes with creams or ointments, let her/him go diaper-free as much as possible.

What are the creams and ointments that you used when your baby had a diaper rash?

Vaseline Petroleum Jelly for Diaper Rash

As for me, I have tried using Petroleum Jelly (Vaseline) and it helped lessen my baby's diaper rash

Vandol Ointment for Diaper Rash
But there's this one diaper rash ointment that my mother-in-law suggested which is called Vandol. I've also tried it and it's very effective and it really helped soothe my baby's irritating rashes.

*Note: I used these ointments on my baby and it's effective for us, but what works for us may not work for you. So, please consult your pediatrician for proper medication, especially for those experiencing severe rashes.

How about you, what's the best diaper rash creams or ointments have you tried that worked well for your baby? I'd appreciate you leaving a comment down below and share your thoughts and tips on how you manage your baby's diaper rash. :)
